A Finish

A couple of pictures of my mums finished quilt and almost finished finger-less gloves…which are done now and posted. The gloves are for my niece although in England she probably needs thermal mittens over there! I love the possum wool made here in NZ as it’s so soft. I discovered that you need to sew up in a matching wool thread as possum isn’t strong enough to use for sewing up and can come apart after a while. The finished article is strong and can be machine washed though.

A bit more sewing for the wool project…

That’s about it!
Have a good week,
Linda 🙂

Kaffe Fasset Quilt and Magazine

This quilt has been on the go for my mum for some time and finally it’s almost done. Just the binding to go. I was quite nervous about having it professionally machine quilted as I always hand quilt. I needn’t have been, I just love love love it. The lady who quilted it is  Helen from www.helenhoriginals.co.nz

A few…..quite a few pictures taken in the lovely sunshine today. For me to look at after it’s posted off! This is the back so now the quilt is reversible.

Close up photo of the lovely quilt pattern that Helen used.

Also I’m feeling chuffed about getting on the front cover of Quilters Companion magazine. I didn’t know until it had been published and I received a copy in the post so such a lovely surprise. They make a great job of photographing the quilts with a lovely old villa in the background.  This also has been done with lovely bright Kaffe fabrics…can’t get enough of them!

Until next time,
Linda 🙂

More Hexagons

Hi, Just a few more hexagons and a sunburst block and feeling a bit bogged down as too much is going on around here. I’ve decided next year is the year that “one thing at a time” will be the new motto 🙁 ? I’ve shelved my Kaffe quilt for the time being as i am making a quilt for my mum as her birthday is looming. For quite a while now i hear the words “I would love something with colour”. So KF it is….snowball blocks with a bigger centre.

Until next time, Linda

Kaffe Fassett Quilt

Hi there, Finally finished my Kaffe Fassett  quilt from a class i did a while back. I bought autumn colours for my daughter in law and then it was decided that spring colours were wanted instead…lucky for me because this quilt’s really grown on me and it will be good to keep it. I wish days were 30 hours long with only 4 hours work a day. All the rest for sewing and sleeping!
Until next time,  Linda

Kaffe and Brandon Class

Hi, I did a class with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mabley at All things Patchwork last Monday. I didn’t want the day to end it flew over so fast. It was fantastic and i got some good advice from them about colour. We did a nine patch quilt which is a lovely easy quilt but it does take some thinking about to sort what fabrics go where.
I took some nice photos ..

I think we were all clicking our cameras in this one. Not sure who the quilt belongs to but it was very nice.

Here is the lovely Gail with her lovely quilt. She always does nice things.

The book signing i managed to snap a quick pic as there was quite a queue.

Until next time, Linda
