A Finish

Hi,
A couple of pictures of my mums finished quilt and almost finished finger-less gloves…which are done now and posted. The gloves are for my niece although in England she probably needs thermal mittens over there! I love the possum wool made here in NZ as it’s so soft. I discovered that you need to sew up in a matching wool thread as possum isn’t strong enough to use for sewing up and can come apart after a while. The finished article is strong and can be machine washed though.

Scrap Fabrics

Hi,
These scrap fabrics were heading for the bin, but given to me instead. Even though there are enough fabrics in my stash to make a fair few quilts, when given scraps i find myself off into action right away. Anyway a table runner was made in a flash….a flash only because of iron-on batting. No moving and shifting or pinning, just sewn up on the machine in minutes. Two applique hearts and a tiny bit of hand quilting. Just got to buy some binding and done.

New Projects

Hi,
I saw this spectacular Rhododendron tree in full bloom on my travels this morning and stopped and took a couple of pictures.Β  Wish they could stay in flower for a few months.

Kaffe Fasset Quilt and Magazine

Hi,

SANY0603

This quilt has been on the go for my mum for some time and finally it’s almost done. Just the binding to go. I was quite nervous about having it professionally machine quilted as I always hand quilt. I needn’t have been, I just love love love it. The lady who quilted it isΒ  Helen from www.helenhoriginals.co.nz

A few…..quite a few pictures taken in the lovely sunshine today. For me to look at after it’s posted off! This is the back so now the quilt is reversible.

Also I’m feeling chuffed about getting on the front cover of Quilters Companion magazine. I didn’t know until it had been published and I received a copy in the post so such a lovely surprise. They make a great job of photographing the quilts with a lovely old villa in the background.Β  This also has been done with lovely bright Kaffe fabrics…can’t get enough of them!

Been digging out a few UFO’s …well one, and thought it high time it got finished. Some more lovely photo’s here of Margaret’s Dear Jane. Margaret’s work is so neat and not a stitch out of place.

A couple of pictures of my table runner that I’m hoping to finish…and not put back in the cupboard ! I thought the Kaffe autumn fabrics look really good with Reproduction or French General fabrics.

Baby Quilt

Hi,
Some things just take forever to get finished and this was one of them. It felt really good when the last stitch was done. Such a small quilt as well. It was from a charm pack and the pattern was from a tutorial. www.pieceandquilt.comΒ

All Sorts

Hi,
Finally managed to finish those gloves for a present……can’t believe a month has passed and sat scratching my head wondering where it went! Hope the winter goes as fast.

SANY0469

Woke up one morning thinking i could do with a table top ironing board and while i was out with a friend that day i found a new one in a second hand shop for 5 dollars. Just needed padding a bit. It’s been really handy because although you can’t see it i have a quilt on the floor and not much room to move. I’m expanding at a great rate…as long as it’s not my middle i can live with it!

SANY0448

Lastly i managed to get the companion cushion done to go with the very large one. This one is 14″ by 10″ with a gusset. Half a circle….or maybe tea cozy shape…ish. Enjoyed making it though as it has a bit of all sorts going on.

Fingerless Gloves

Hi,
A couple of pictures of a fingerless glove. I’ve only done one so far. It’s boring GST time again and it comes round too fast for my liking but i have mini breaks in between. It wouldn’t take that long if i just got on with it! Rather be sewing/knitting !

A present to send to UK. I like that the wool is made in NZ. It’s called Outlaw yarn and it’s made from Alpaca, Possum and Polwarth. At the risk of sounding “silly” here in NZ i wasn’t sure what a Polwarth was so i Googled it. Of coarse it’s a sheep! The mitt feels nice and warm with all those creatures in it πŸ™‚

All Sorts

Hi there,
I have a few more photos of Margaret s Dear Jane blocks. It’s going to be gorgeous when it’s finished. Also a little draw string bag for a present. I think the fabric is called Sandcastle fabric. It’s already finely quilted. I bought it some years ago and have never seen it since. Also a baby quilt for my nephew who has just had a baby girl….or rather his wife Julie has! I made the baby quilt years ago as well and forgot about it so that saved me from having 8 new things on the go !!
