New Quilt

Hi,

How the time fly’s! Been busy with Instagram and having a good time with posting pictures. Touch of a button and it’s all done in seconds.

Apart from that I’ve been working on a new quilt for a block of the month. I put together some paper pieces and found a good place for them.

On this quilt. No name yet.

Good day to sew as it’s pouring with rain here in Auckland.

Until next time,

Linda 🙂

Bird Walk Cushion

Hi,

I enjoyed making this cushion but had forgotten about it until it arrived back in the post. Homespun always take photographs in lovely settings. The photos were taken at a place called The Whalers Cottage, Hyams Beach NSW. A lovely place to sit and sew!

I did a smaller version on a linen background.

There are lots of lovely projects in this issue of Australian Homespun. I love this pattern Japanese Ice Cream by Chris Jurd.  A lovely scrappy quilt.

Until next time,

Linda 🙂

Echino Linen Cushion

Hi,

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Been sewing in between cooking and eating Christmas cakes. A bright blue sky here today so I expect a lot of us will be heading to the beach for a long walk!

Love this linen fabric, it’s lovely to sew with. Although it’s a great weight for cushions I still put some iron-on batting on the top and quilted it a little. Mainly because I like the look.

I cut open a feather pillow for this cushion and made an insert…probably best to do it outside in the garden. A real messy job but well worth it.SANY0816

Sewing Project

Hi,

Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this blog and to everyone else as well! I’ve started a new block of the month for next year, for All Things Patchwork. It has all sorts of techniques in it so it’s fun to do. A couple of sneak peaks.

Gloves

Hi,

I haven’t got much to show except for some gloves I finished. They go with the scarf I made earlier for mum in the UK. A little piece of New Zealand Possum in them. They aren’t liked here as they eat what they shouldn’t I’m told. I feel a bit sorry for them so maybe I’ll swap to Alpaca as they get the royal treatment!

Love this quilt and all the fabrics. Margaret’s Gypsy Wife quilt and close ups of the quilting done by Rebecca, Margaret’s daughter. Wishing someone in my family was a long arm quilter!!

Spring and New Projects

Hi,
I went to the Helensville Art weekend yesterday and had a great time seeing all the things everyone makes. So many artistic people in one village. I think they all gravitate to live amongst those beautiful rolling green hills. Today is a good day to go with the sun finally out!
I went outside and took a few photos of the spring flowers. They remind me of Kaffe Fasset colours.

I haven’t had much to show sewing wise as I had deadlines to finish. Not keen on that at all as it seems to take away the enjoyment a bit.
So now feeling free a new project has been started. Looking at some fabrics for a new quilt and can’t wait to get started.

Have a lovely long weekend,
